Blizzard’s Project Titan Reportedly Delayed Until 2016

It was a few years ago that Blizzard’s next-gen MMO, codenamed “Titan”, was leaked, at least far as its existence was concerned. Details remain unknown (only rumors so far) but Blizzard has since confirmed it by saying that there are over 100 team members working on the game, supposedly a dream team of sorts. Unfortunately for gamers who are eager to see what Blizzard can do with their next-gen MMO which will follow in the success of World of Warcraft, you’re going to have to wait until 2016 at the very earliest.

According to the folks at GamesBeat, they have learnt that Blizzard has pushed the infamous reset button on the entire project, cutting about 70 team members from the project and leaving a core team which is expected to start all over again on the game. Their source has also informed them that the game will probably see a release in 2016, instead of 2014 which supposedly was the original date according to a leaked roadmap.

Blizzard is pretty notorious when it comes to delaying the release of their games and has never been shy at revisiting the drawing board when it comes to ensuring that the quality of the game is up to their standards. The company had scrapped their console title, StarCraft: Ghost despite being years in development, and even delayed the launch of Diablo 3 as they felt that there still could be improvements made to the game, so it is not surprising to learn of this.

We’re sure many gamers are probably disappointed by this delay, especially since they’ll have to wait another 3 years at least before they see it, but at the same time why would anyone want to play a hastily designed game that was released for the sake of it, instead of a game that has been carefully nurtured over the years?

Lucasfilm announced on Friday that production of Star Wars: Episode VII will take place in the United Kingdom. All of the six previous live-action Star Wars movies have included U.K. production at Elstree, Shepperton, Leavesden, Ealing and Pinewood Studios.
“We’ve devoted serious time and attention to revisiting the origins of Star Wars as inspiration for our process on the new movie, and I’m thrilled that returning to the U.K. for production and utilizing the incredible talent there can be a part of that,” said Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm. “Speaking from my own longstanding connection to the U.K. with films like Raiders of the Lost ArkEmpire of the Sun and recently War Horse, it’s very exciting to be heading back.”
Earlier this year, representatives from Lucasfilm met with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, in London to establish an agreement to produce Star Wars in the U.K.
“I am delighted that Star Wars is coming back to Britain. Today’s announcement that the next Star Wars film will be shot and produced in the U.K. is great news for fans and our creative industries,” Osborne said today.
Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Michael Arndt and is scheduled for a 2015 release.
